Selecting the BEST LOCATION for Your Above Ground Swimming Pool in RI

Please consider the following suggestions when choosing a location for your new swimming pool. If you plan ahead, your pool will
be a very attractive addition to your yard for many years to come.

Locate your swimming pool within your local zoning and boundary restrictions.
Do not place your swimming pool over any utilities (water, gas, electric, sprinklers).
Do not locate your swimming pool over a septic system or leach field.
Do not place your swimming pool under any overhead electrical lines.
Select a location where your swimming pool will receive the best exposure to the sun.
Shield your swimming pool from frequent winds.
Tree stumps must be pulled and removed. DO NOT GRIND TREE STUMPS.
Locate your swimming pool so that surface water drains away from pool.
Locate your swimming pool on a solid and firm surface.
Avoid placing your swimming pool under trees or near shrubs (they drop leaves and debris into pool and make cleanup difficult).
Place filter system in an easily accessible location (not under low decks).
Select a location that will be a complementary focal point from the interior and/or exterior of your home.

How to Measure for a ROUND Swimming Pool

Put a stake in the center of desired swimming pool site.
Measure a rope 1/2 the diameter of desired swimming pool size and tie rope to stake. For instance, to measure for a 24-foot pool, cut rope to 12 feet.
With rope extended, walk in circle and pour flour on ground. (White flour on the ground is a great visual aid for determining pool size.)

How to Measure for an OVAL Swimming Pool

Put a stake in the center of desired swimming pool site.
Measure a rope 1/2 the diameter of desired swimming pool size width and tie rope to stake. For instance, to measure for a 24-foot swimming pool, cut rope to 12 feet.
With rope extended, pour flour on the ground at width edges (include side support extensions, if applicable).
Repeat above step for length measurements. White flour on ground is a great visual aid for determining swimming pool size.
